New American Tea Party

Anybody heard about this? I looked back a couple of pages in this part of the Forum and didn’t see anything. Jan’s got tea bags in envelopes waiting for April 1st. Don’t mess with her guys. She’s little, her son is a Marine and she’ll tell ya wher you stand in the pecking order. Coast Guard Chiefs don’t hold much rank. -

There’s a storm abrewin’. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don’t work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO’s over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar. I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don’t ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all.

O.K. folks, here it is… You may think you are just one voice and what you think won’t make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the wreckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and “stimulate” without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.

So, here’s the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington , D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, “New American Tea Party”, several sites will come up. If you aren’t the ‘protester’ type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEAB AG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.

This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the ‘New American Tea Pary’ and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will. Send it to; 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington , D.C. 20500 .

Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the ‘New American Tea Party’. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelop e ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can’t guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.
What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.

Looks interesting Ric.
I heard about the “Tea Party” in different cities around the country last month.
Don’t know anything about mailing a tea bag to the White House.
I’d like to send a tea bag to every Senator and Congressman.
The tea bags would be cheap…the postage would hurt =)
Ralph

There is a lot “brewing” around the USA these days, a lot of discontentment out there. There is this Tea Party, the on going Continental Congress meetings, the state capital protests, the "10th Amendment Resolutions being passed in various state legislatures. It will all come to a head real soon, it feels.

We The People will have a Second (or a Continued) Revolution (bloodless of course), and reclaim our Constitution.

Nothing like “Change”.

My teabag is going!!!

We definitly need another Boston Tea Party!!!

Taxation without representation is what we have now.

One of the early pundits, maybe Mark Twain or Will Rogers said - “The only thing worse than taxation without representation is taxation with representation”. How true. It takes a thief to steal your property, but it takes a government to steal your freedom.

Hold your teabags!

You already have transparency and accountability–at least as much as you can ever get. Every single bill is publicly debated and then published at Congress’ web site, http://thomas.loc.gov/. The full text of congressional debate, of committee hearings, and of every bill both proposed and passed, is presented there. As to accountability, you can vote for someone else. You have a congressman? A state legislator? Vote them out. Tom, how do you figure you have taxation without representation? Do you not have a congressman? Seriously, instead of wasting tea, you’d be better off reorganizing the republican party so it’s not losing ground. The figures for the republican party are really bad right now. Younger voters are bailing out, and the base is aging rapidly

I have to suspect that for most people under 30, hanging around with a bunch of middle aged and older model railroaders waving teabags is not an attractive idea.

Who do you know mike that is able to read 1400 pages of legislation in 24 hours and understand it, per the first trillion dollar spending/pay off bill this bastard signed.

Some how you managed to put that in a way that doesn’t sound too appealing to me either
Ralph

So if a bunch of tea bags show up, it might shut down the government. And how is that bad?

It’s great if you’re Bin Laden!

Also where were you teabaggers during the last eight years?

This from the Cato Institute:

“President Bush has presided over the largest overall increase in inflation-adjusted federal spending since Lyndon B. Johnson. Even after excluding spending on defense and homeland security, Bush is still the biggest-spending president in 30 years. His 2006 budget doesn’t cut enough spending to change his place in history, either.”

And there wasn’t even the excuse of an economic crisis.

And yet you seem to have unlimited time to devote to posting in this forum

Always mis-directing the issue, eh mike?

Actually no, I wasn’t mis-directing, I was making fun of you. I didn’t think I’d have to point it out. But you are whining that it’s too hard to read the bill, it’s too much work, while also whining because other people are lazy and don’t want to work and don’t pay attention to what’s going on. Hypocrisy? Nobody ever said democracy was easy. Nobody ever said republics were easy either. Nobody ever said Obama was going to give anyone a tv So much of this “debate” is Republicans endlessly refighting the political battles of 50 years ago, as if Obama is a hippie or a black panther. It’s kind of quaint, like worrying about “flappers.” But it’s also why young people are bailing on the Republican party in remarkable numbers: because it keeps re-fighting the battles of 50 years ago.

It’s mostly people crying about non existent stuff, like Obama giving you a plasma tv. It’s odd. my guess is the people who are protesting are the ones who really want Obama to give them free stuff, in the same way that it’s often the most anti-gay people who get caught soliciting in men’s rooms. People get the most worked up about what they fear in themselves. I haven’t gotten anything from Obama. I’m not expecting anything directly from Obama, except supposedly a tax cut. I’d be delighted if he spent money rebuilding the area’s crumbling bridges, or maybe upgrading and improving public transit, because then I could get to work more easily and be more productive instead of sitting on the freeway in traffic because the VA republicans in the state house won’t authorize any taxation for road improvement. But instead of reading this, you could be reading the stimulus bill
