Large Scale Central

Need some assistance and/or guidance

Good day all,

Sorry for the potential duplication of emails but not sure where I need to post this.

I have about a 1/3 of a mile or 24” (two-footer gauge) laid out on the property.

Would like to build a car to accommodate non-ambulatory riders (wheel chair based)?

Does anyone know if one is being built commercially?

Or where I might get plans to directly build one of find some starting plans which I could
Adapt for the 24” tracks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

You might want to check WaltDisneyWorld. The have wheel chair accesable passenger cars on their RR. It’s basically half-passenger car and half-flatcar with a railing around it. The platform has ramps to to accomodate wheel chairs and a ramp between the platform and car.

You could also build a deck/ramp at the end of a siding track from which to endload a gondola with removeable ends and tiedowns for wheelchairs.

Gondola or flat car both would be good starting points. You want seating along with the wheel chair space for anyone accompanying them.
