Need help with AC/DC switching power adapter

Hi all.
I need a new power supply for my Maha charger and I can’t find one that will work.
It says:
Output: 22.00 to 27.00 Volts 1.1 Amp 25W max.
It has what looks like a standard computer plug that goes into the Maha charger.
I’ve tried several laying around that are for my radios, etc, and at 18V out put, they won’t do it.
I’ve googled until my eyes crossed without any answers.

Thanks

John.
Use a lap top power supply. They often come in switchable multiple voltages. I have one that runs from 16v to 24 volts.

Thanks, Tony.
I’ll look for one.

John, the computer power supply won’t work. You’re going to need a 30V power supply to charge a 24V battery and 95% of all computer power supply’s can only charge up to 19.2V. Go to mpja.com then click on desktop power supplies, look for a 30V @ 1amp transformer. If you can’t find the correct adaptor, give them a call … they may be able to switch connectors or find you the correct adaptor plug.

I cannot comment on all Maha chargers, but, the MH-C777 Plus2 Maha charger I have came with a 24 volt switchmode power supply and was not designed to charge 24 volt batteries.
If that is the charger you have, they are rated up to 12 cells of NiCd/NiMH batteries and 4 cells of Li-Ion or Li-Po.
The Maha supplied power supply died and I replaced it with a 24 volt lap top power supply which works just fine for 14.4 volts.
Others have been able to charge 16.8 volts of NiCd.

Tony,
That’s the one I have.
Got it from TOC.
The power supply crapped out. I’ve been using a small cheap backup charger while looking for a new power supply.
The most I charge is 14.4 V
Nicad and Nimh only.

My next question is, are all Laptop supplies the same polarity?
My Maha instructions says don’t use one with the wrong polarity.

Rick,
Thanks for the input.
But I get really nervous changing out to something I know nothing about.

As far as I know lap top supplies have positive to the pin. They are often sold with removable plugs of different sizes which can be swapped around to suit. Just make sure they are positive to the pin.

What are the specs for your batteries?

Min voltage
Max voltage
MAH of batteries

The reason that I ask is that you can get a new charger for a lot less money that that charger cost. I know because I have what you have and 2 different ones too.
