Need help finding a screwdriver

You guys will think I’m nuts, but I need help finding a special phillips precision screwdriver for “Chinese” phillips screws such as those used in Aristo and USA train products. There is such an item.
Seems the Chinese phillips are a little different than US screws.
I once had a website for a source, but I lost it. It was a supplier of all kinds of technician tools from precision aluminum tool cases, testing equipment, special electricians tools, etc.
I can’t remember the name of the company. They do make a large catalog also.
I’ll keep “googling”, but in the meantime, does anyone here have an idea?
I remember on the “other site”, a few years ago, someone posted they were having trouble with those deep screws on a USA dismal. Someone answered with the name of the company and the type of screwdriver they needed. I can’t find it.
Thanks,
jb

I’ve used these before http://www.artstuff.net/precision_screwdriver_sets.htm ,but am using one I got at home depot that stores the different tips in the handle. Made by Husky, it has three different small phillips tips. I think the difference is calle PZ(Pozi??) and PH(phillips). Don’t qoute me cause I could be full of it.

I have a black one I got at “Farm King” a few years ago that fits those well. It’s my favorite. I think it’s labeled #0, but I can’t find it.

Hey, I moved 7 times in 2 years and had 1 fire. EVERYTHING is misplaced!

I’ve got a screwdriver for the USA deep screws. It works fine.
I need one for those shallow pan heads that Aristo uses.
American screwdrivers are too pointed. The Chinese Phillips is almost like a 4 sided torx head.
I disassembled an RS-3 yesterday and rounded out most of the screws. I replaced most of them with new ones. What a pain! And I even used Wiha screwdrivers. (The best, in my opinion).

Marc,
I just looked up Wiha Pozi-drives, and I might order a few. The Pozi head is European, (A phillips with a square in the middle) but the drivers are not as pointed as the American phillips.
Thanks for the tip!

Somewhere along the line the US standard for a Phillips head screw driver has changed. A true Phillips is suppose to have a blunt tip. We used to call the pointy one a Reed & Prince…the tip angle was slightly different too. I’ve had the same problem too. I just cannot find a good true blunt nose Phillips in a small driver any more. I’ve also been known to “accidentally” bump the tip against a grinding wheel too…

Oh, John, also look at those screws carefully. I’ve found that they also have burrs in them that prevent the screwdriver tip from going in fully…and I’ve just had to drill out the head on occasion.

Not to mention the Chinese Geisha girls on the assembly line drive them in as hard as they can!!!

Sounds like the old Jensen Tools. Now evidently swallowed by Stanley:

Dawg,
That’s the one!.
But now I can’t remember what type of screwdriver it is.
So I ordered a couple Wiha Pozi’s today. I’l let ya’ll know if that works out.

I purchased the LGB kit of tools and smoke fluid and the philips in that kit fits the screws, plus you get the hex nut tools for the screws on the drive rods.

I stumbled on it accidentally while ordering from McMaster-Carr. The are called JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdrivers. I googled JIS and found lots of RC model sites sell them as well as Stanley/Jensen.
So, problem solved. I’ll add a few JIS drivers to my tool kit. Jensen has a 10" #2 that is perfect for those deep recessed USA lokie screws.

C&P’d from an RC website:
JIS (Japanese Phillips) Drivers – These drivers are the solution to countless modelers and their frustration with “phillips” screws that don’t fit right with their ANSI Phillips drivers. You can have the perfect Phillips driver, but there is a different standard in play with these fasteners and it would be called the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS).

Here’s a set on evil-bay:

John, Let me know how the work out for you, I might order some on evilbay
With a company name like “Hozan”(hose-ing?) you could’nt go wrong:}

I ordered a set of Moody’s (made in USA) from these guys:

And a couple extra long ones from Jensen.
