Need an old power truck

One of the guys that operates here didn’t listen, and put a NWSL gearbox into his railtruck.

You can hear it from the other end of the railroad.

So, he wanted to know what he could do.

I looked at an older AC block, like on the RS-3, FA and U25B.

Not the ball-bearing units, one of the older ones with stub axles for the journals.

Anybody have an old truck that functions (plating not important…dedicated on-board batter power).

Cheap.

Thanks.

Check mail…

Yeah, thanks, I did.

I have one of those.

The old AC trucks, if you yank the separate gearbox end out and mount it in a sideframe (needs the stub axles the old ones had), make a brace, mount the motor in the floor and a rubber tube driveshaft…

Thanks for the heads up on the NWSL drive.

When Barry had to shut down when his wife got ill many years ago, the .6MOD was just getting ready to ship.

I got one of the first.

In six months, we went through 2 full housings, 3 or 4 full sets of gears, 6 u-joints, and 3 Sagami cans.
Finally put a Pittman in and the motor problems were fixed.

When Barry started shipping again, I ripped the chassis out (saved it, too) and put in a BBT.

Those things are not for tonnage.

Sunset Valley made E-8’s, in A and B, with NWSL 6-wheel trucks…

I won’t go any further with that one.

Anyone ever see one run?

The gearboxes work good in smaller scales with less mass to the locos…
