Need advice: Smoke unit kitbash

Anyone who knows…
I want to use a pacific smoke unit in a kitbash [replace defective smoke unit in LGB Mikado]. What voltage does the unit need to operate? How much is too much? Does it use any type of blower unit? Is the length of the smoke pipe a critical issue? are there other smoke units that are equaly or more productive at a similiar size, or smaller? I have been pleased with the smoke in my Pacific.

Thanks,
JimC.

Sounds a bit cool to me , what smoke mix are you using to get pleased with it ? Can we buy it ? Is it legal ?
We got’sta know , man .

I have been using Aristo smoke fluid with the best results in the Pacific. LGB fluid works OK, with Bachmann fluid working the least well. Some friends use lamp oil [don’t know what brand] that they say works well.

If yer gonna power it off the existing LGB smoke unit feeder wires, be advised it’s only 5 volts.
I dunno what the voltage requirements are for the Aristo unit. You would have to “tap in” somewhere on the LGB circuit board to get the correct voltage.
Might be a bigger project than you wanted to do.

I have converted the LGB Mikado to battery or track operation with a DPDT switch between the track pickups and/or the tender containing RC unit [T-TE] and batteries, and the LGB circuit board. Probably, I would take off power from the middle posts of the switch to the smoke unit.
