I’m thinking of joining. Is anyone here a member ? Do you enjoy the membership ? Any other thoughts ?
I am a member. We have a small group in the Raritan River Rail Road Historical Society, and a few dropped their membership. In the last couple of years there has been some political infighting, and they changed the company that administered the membership program. As the designated Electronic Contact for our group, I used to have to collect dues and mail them a check. No credit cards processed. That has been eliminated, making it easier on me. I would have to send one check for renewing members, another for new. Now members send payment directly to NRHS. Problem with that is, now we don’t know who are members.
The administrative headaches aside, they do a good thing with their Rail Camp, which allows kids to learn about locomotives, history, and railroading. Their is also an annual Convention which I have not attended, but they appear to be full of rail activities and are held at different places around the country. Someday I would like to go to one.
