Way back when, in my HO days, I was going to model the Richard M. Nixon Space Port. I had a nice model of Shuttle Columbia and was going to free-lance something that would transport the orbiter by rail from landing site to launch site It never got off paper, but I have some neat drawings of the idea. And yes, more pictures are needed. Google has a few thousand…

The orange cars are the transport cars for the four segments that make up the solid rocket boosters for the shuttle… eight cars of freight for each launch!
