Name That Railroad and Create their Logo Contests

Am following up on a suggestion by Bruce to hold a contest in order to get a RR name and logo. One contest for each. Winner gets choice of one of my acrylic kits. No limit on the number of entries.

There is a bunch of discussion in today’s chat on local info. I’ll post most of it in here for your reference. However I am not tied to names or logos that are “local”. Feel free to exercise your imagination by what you know of me (rumor and innuendo allowed), my acreage, area, profession, interests, those of the wife, Scottish, or no one or nothing in particular.

From chat today…
Ornery, opinionated, tactless, armed

Hurts, doesn't it?

With the Scottish background, I still like “Haggis and North Western”

Loon Slough Central Ry.

But, really,
Slow River Central.

(there’s another word grouping from those given that comes to mind, but ohhhhhh dear . . . this is a family forum . . . )

Yes it does Steve!

the ““B & B”” railroad… B & B = Board and Batton…

I say name it after your “sunny” disposition!

Firefight & Cannon Boom R.R.

Line runs from the cities of “Dead Or Alive” to “Last Gasp”.
Name train: The Bullet Hole Express

The logo could feature a happy image of the aftermath of the Battle of Borodino!

Jackson & Western RR…an affiliate of the Jackson & Burke RR…

Howlin’ Hound & Gunbarrel Ridge

or Haverin’ Hound & Gun Barrel Ridge

How bout “Black Powder & Dogpatch”?

Looking on a map you can go with Lost Island RR, Racoon Creek RR have a Racoon as a logo. Hawkeye Point RR for the Highest Point in Iowa, Lost River RR,
Some off the top of my head Shades of Death RR, Ghost Lake RR,

I kind of like the -

“Western Iowa and Eastern Rwy”

call it the “Wiery”

Schofield and Minnesota Southern Railroad. Sam’s RR

The Duke & Yosemite Sam RR

well…after an appropriate period of mourning I can say I haven’t found any that sing to me as much as Bruce’s Blackridge & Rush Lake RR and Devil’s Slough RR.

Anyone care to try again?

My initial Google search put Jackson IA in fields without roads or buildings!!!

I had another attempt: better luck this time except I got SIX Jackson Townships all in Iowa but differing Counties. A brick wall!

My own fictitious RR name was composed from that of my youngest grandson (Oliver) whose toys were the catalyst for my garden RR and from a location frequently found. (North Fork).

My initial location was to be Colorado - the D&RGW - lots of us this side of the pond seem to like the name and area. My garden bears little resemblance to much in CO. I now favor the Milwaukee Road and love the areas of VA and WVa. Those States have areas that could look somewhat like my back yard. lol

However there is an Oliver in CO and a North Fork in both CO and VA so I feel my style in less cramped.

I was rather intrigued by the post which mentioned Duke and Yosemite Sam. I noticed a Calhoun County - the Duke did play a part with that name but not sure about Sam.

My suggestion then is choose names of a places where the railroad passes and which starts, or finishes, - or even as early railroads both sides of the pond did and choose a name that they hoped to eventually reach (even if they didn’t make it there). lol

Failing that put two pins in a map. lol

call it the “S & I RR” = Schofield & Indecision RR

Jackson and Schofield Southern the JackASS line then do
