I’d say it’s bigger than 1 & 2, and smaller than 3 (all of which were never finished)

I don’t think I have ever finished a layout.

Ain’t that a fact…

I’m already in the planning stages for Layout #3

The question is; should a model railroad every be finished ?

One suggestion is that a model railroad is part of the great hobby of “Railroading”, and is a model of the practices of the real industry. The real industry grows with the needs of its customers, and it could be said, dies with them too…!!

A good, worthwhile hobby, should grow with the individual hobbyist, and and be diversified enough, to retain a healthy interest.

To say that a model railroad is “Finished” is to say that you have no further interest in its growth. Growth doesn’t have to be in size, so please don’t take me wrong.

Growth can be in many ways. Improving what you have, is one way to keep the interest levels high. Looking at new uses for the existing railroad is another. If you have never done anything but running round and round; how about looking at some form of “Operation”, that might give new use to trackage you already have.

A good hobby, is a way to staying young, and keeping your mind working in a positive way. It’s wonderful if your hobby started with you at an early age; but some people have never had that privilege.

Having a hobby of your own, that has grown with you, is a heritage and a gift, that can be passed on to future generations. A real value for their lives in the future.

No…a model railroad is NEVER Finished. If you get to the point that you make that statement, then maybe you should take a new and different approach to your life, along with your model railroad.

These are just thoughts that I have put together over the years, while sharing my hobby, of Railroading, with others. They are not just my thoughts, but the expressed feelings of others, who have enriched my Model Railroading experiences, over 60 years.

No model railroad is ever finished… only abandoned, like the prototype.

finished was wrong word…maybe I should have said properly started…

Looks like it’ll be a lot of fun, Cale… Nice job…

It’s come a long way. Nice work thus far!

Cale, One more suggestion, before you get to far along…. Stop and run some trains! Even if it’s only over a small section, back and forth. Time for a little fun…

Looking good, looking good! And lots of room for scenery and structures.

You done good.
