Well on the advice of a friend and my wife also, I did not want to store my train in a storage container or out in the garage. So yesterday I got a little creative and built me some shelves out of old cedar fence material for a rustic look that I think fits the era of the train. Here are 2 pics of how they turned out. I did resize the pics down to 1/25th the original size before posting hopefully that worked sfor the site requirements.
Sean looks great! For a start, What will happen when you end up with more pieces, WAY more? Next thing you know all 4 walls have shelves, stuff is on the floor etc. Nice start. The other Sean
I have a room in the basement 12 X 30 full of train stuff and 3 3X5 shelves in my office upstairs full of more train stuff. If this keeps up I will need to add on to the house.

Sean, sure like the picture of old Ephrim, nice shelves too. Jake
ps, I see what you ment about the wall color.
They look great on the wall. Might as well enjoy them. I was always storing my engines under a bench we have by the front door. My 9 month old found them and kept trying to get them. I waited until my wife was at work and i put some rustic shelves up on the wall by the front door. To my suprise my wife thought it looked nice. I was sweating it. LOL My rolling stock I store outside in a one of those small plastic shelving units that is enclosed.
Finally took a picture of my inside storage. Here is where I store my engines. To my suprise the boss thought it looked nice.

This is my outside storage for rolling stock etc… Its not real big but dont ever plan on having a hudge inventory of rolling stock
How well does the outside storage cabinet work for you? Does it do a good job of keeping out the moisture? Have you thought about a de-humidifier? What about when the sun shines on it? Does the temperature reach toward extremes? I’m assuming it’s a manufactured unit like “Rubbermaid” or something similar. I ask because I want to persue something similar.
Thanks,
Bill Wright
This is my winter, spring, summer, fall train storage. It’s also the Burns Jct. Interchange on my layout.

Bill Wright said:Its like one of those rubbermaid storages just a different brand. So far it works great. It sits in the sun all afternoon and has been through heavy winds and rains. So far noo moisture. I have not had any moisture buildup mainly because it does has enough ventilation for the moisture to escape. You can gget bigger and better quality units like this. I got mine at Lowes

I have a small room - 10x10 - wall 1 has floor to ceiling racks with stuff end on - wall 2 has the work bench with end-on boxes and above that are racks with end-on boxes. In our backyard shed - only 6 x 10, one wall has racks on with end-on boxes, and the other long wall has a three-foot high work-surface - under which are a pile of end-on boxes. In the grarj, my office and workplace and shooting info library, one end has a pile of boxes, and the wall has a 4 x 3 glass-fronted display case full of my H0 stuff - most of which is cunningly hidden away up at the railway club, along with a bunch more boxes…
Needless to say there are always a couple of locos ‘on show’ for one reason or another - right now there is a Bachmann Shay awaiting its new Banta cab and an Aster BR01 pacific on the beautiful wooden display tracks my cousin in Wooler makes for me.

PS - Shoot! I forgot the backyard storage bin - 12 home-built skeleton log cars, four cabeese and three flats, plus all my paraphernalia to run the steamies.
PPS - SHE just reminded me that there are another four locos in the summer house thing stuck on the end of the house, and a couple of cabeese as well.
