My wife is the luckiest gal (hot pics)

OK, I got your attention. Steam is hot right? The reason she’s so lucky is because for her birthday I got her 30 minutes as the fireman, then 30 minutes as the engineer of the Pere Marquette 1225 Berkshire (a.k.a. The Polar Express). She bubbled about it for quite a while. To say it was her best present would be an understatement. A little background about her…she’s a Mechanical Engineer with a love for real steam. Here she has just finished her stint as fireman…she’s waiting for them to tell her to hop into the engineers seat.

Here’s my favorite picture

And is he thinking “is that a gal in the engineers seat?”

Here she is pulling up to the platform…looking like a real pro

This is the train…a caboose hop

We had a great day at the Steam Railroading Institute. Margaret couldn’t keep the smile off her face…she had more soot in her teeth than anywhere  Brian B. DT&I 1980ish

Wow, that’s an awesome birthday present! Great pics, too.

Hey, my birthdays coming up…

Really nice Brian , your a lucky guy , and she is lucky also , what a experience .

As Paris would say…

THATS HOT

What a neat present! Must have been fun…

BTW, what does “Pere Marquette” mean in English?

Yup, one of the old French missionary explorers from 400 years ago or so.

Yup, we’ve got a park 8 miles up the Illinois River from where it joins the Mississippi River (at normal river heights, your results may vary). People round here are constantly pronouncing it wrong. Incorrectly trying to make it sound a little more French.

Now, moi, I'd pronounce it something like Pair Mar-KET. Is there another way?

Brian:
Your wife’s enthusiasm is obvious from the smiles! Great gift for an ME.

“Pair Mar-kett” is about right, hard part is getting “Pere” right, I never really could

That looks like a lot of fun!
