My web site guy changed my web site to make it easier to load-at my urging.
http://thescrr.com/
Home page loads pretty fast, little tabs on the side to see other GR things I have made/done. Buddy of mine, with dial-up, tried it out and said it worked great for him, he saw some things he had never seen before. Just thought a few of you might be interested. Jerry
Very nice. It seems to load a bit faster than it did the last time I tried it. Still an awful lot to load, on my slooooowwwww connection. If I may offer a small suggestion, maybe move some of the stuff off the first page and onto separate pages?
BTW, how did you get the neat aerial shot of your layout?
The ice storm pics are sure beautiful, but I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that! Brr! Makes me appreciate how easy I have it here in sunny Sandy Eggo.
Thanks Ray,
I believe that is all the changes. A new page on my gun truck models is in the works right now. Over head shot was taken by my tree trimmer. The ice storm damaged several trees, one right by the RR. He came out with a bucket truck and took it down a piece at a time. I had him go up with my camera to take some shots. He went WAY up, about 60’ and it was WINDY! Guy is nuts. Offered to let me do it, I reluctantly(NOT!) turned him down. Jerry
Wow!! I really liked the section on your experiences in Viet Nam. Brought back some memories. I remember “Ambush Alley” as I was stationed in An Khe for 2 months as a company armorer with the 4th Div. This was in in Sept.-Oct. 1970. If you can believe it I also distinctly remember a gun truck named “Snoopy”. Pulled a lot of perimeter guard duty in An Khe, but the only time I ever went through the village was going to or from someplace else. At the end of Oct me and most of the guys I came over with were transfered to the 24th Inf Div in Qhin Nhon. Spent most of the next 2 months out in the field as an APC driver with a recon unit until I was wounded and sent home.
It’s funny but I never had a problem talking about my experiences over there. Maybe because of the scar on my arm and people would ask me about it. More than likely it helped me get adjusted back to being a “PFC”. Proud F**king Civilian!
The one thing that will always stay with me was the selfless attitude of the medical corp in Viet Nam and stateside. I have the utmost respect for the doctors, nurses and corpman that served over there. They more than anything helped a lot in getting re-adjusted.
Thanx for sharing your experiences.
PS: as for the bucket truck thing…you Wuss. Spent thirty years on a bucket truck with the phone company and after Viet Nam, that was a piece a cake…
Hey Ken,
Thanks for writing. Snoopy was a gun truck in my company, the 444 Trans. You can see my building of it by a link at the bottom of my home page. Or here: http://www.geocities.com/vietnammodeling/SNOOPY
Should be a new page on my web site soon of my building a model of the Red Baron, also a gun truck in my company. Jerry
