I got the K-line locomotive. Kept blowing a fuse my TE on track power, so converted it to battery. Ran it this morning for an hour or so and it did fine. Pretty happy with my Army train. I was in the Transportation Corps and was trained on their trains some at my Officers Basic course in 67. I made the Sealand trailer, had them in convoys in Nam. Metal tank came from Hobby Lobby, I was in the local guard unit after Nam, we had tanks. The tank cars are USA(got one with the loco) and the boxcar(battery car) is Aristo.

Looks good Jerry. I didn’t know K-line made large scale. What scale is K-line 1/32?
Yes I believe so
Not sure, it seems to look okay with the Aristo boxcar. Being that old of a make, I sort of thought maybe it would be 1/24 or 1/22?
I finished up the Revell 1/32nd scale Cobra model and got it mounted on a flatcar. Wood beams besides the skids and going across. Rotors are tied down with string I coated with liquid dull coat to keep them from sagging in the humidity. Used to have these choppers accompany my convoys in Vietnam on QL19 to Pleiku.

All ya need now are some steel sided gons with 50 cals mounted in them and plenty of sand bags…
Darn Revell…missing TOW Missiles (Anti-Armor) and TOW Sight Unit under nose…I work for the company that developed all that stuff. We used bailing wire and duct tape to install the first system on a Cobra in Vietnam… marines still fly it but the Super Cobra Model.

Not to be rivet counting, but wouldn’t the US Army fly an Apache as well?

Apaches are not early 70’s era that Jerry seems to be modelling.
Just sayin’…

Marines don’t have Apaches as they are un-reliable and maintenance costs too high. The old adage applies: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Army did junk almost all of their Cobra,. For awhile they were relegated to the National Guard.

Of course, I may be biased.
My army train is limited to items that I used in my convoys/time in Vietnam. Cobras would accompany them sometimes. I have a Huey coming also, rode in them quite a bit It is a diecast with Marine markings, but I have plenty of decals left from the Cobra for changing it to Army. The tank I am using is because I was in the local guard unit after Nam, finishing up my 20 as a tank commander. Never did ride in a Loach Dave, watched one right above our compound one day, he had a mini-gun one one skid, when he let it off, peppering the hill side, it would veer , he would bring it back and let off another blast. They still hit us that night though.
