My tunnel build/progress

I’ve been wanting to build a tunnel on my layout for awhile now and decided it’s time. I already had the portal entrances (two track) built for over a year, so yesterday I started my build! In the next 5 pics you will see my progress. All I need now is to install 4 solar lights, put on mesh, and cement soaked burlap bags, and some river rock to finish detail. Will paint and add trees, and other things to make look realistic. So watch my progress here! Also will do some timber, framework on front of tunnel openings. Regal

#1 is what I started with

Progress #2 3 4

#6 is where I ended up now to get burlap to cover framework

It will be a nice addition to your layout Jerry. Be careful with those blocks, old backs ya’ know?

Yep, Jerry when I brought all 80 of em home in two trips meant loading twice, and unloading twice. Unknown to me somewhere along the line I had run a 2-3 inch paneling nail through my tennis shoe and into my heel. I put my shoe on twice before I noticed it, so it punctured me twice too, and it really didn’t heal fully until Febr. 2011 I ran it in my foot in August of 2010 yikes!! Those blocks are designated to possibly a raised loop of some kind somewhere in the yard as yet undetermined. 84 here already I just put in 4 solar lights in the top panel so the tunnel will be lighted at night!! That’s probably it for today too hot later and then when cool mosquitoes and my little off fan doesn’t appear to phase em at all. Prolly a new strain or sumtin!!! We have standing water everywhere here due to them putting in a new water system and meters.

Lookin good, Jerry.
I’ve got to pick up a few more blocks to finish up my tunnel.
One line will cross over the other, in the tunnel.
Ralph

Here’s some more progress on the tunnel. Not finished yet but getting there! Lots of detail to add yet, and on the left side frame in an access door. Regal

My wife and her twin are going to paint scenes on the background for me sometime towards the end of summer when she comes home for a visit!

looking good Jerry. I like the rock.

Well Thursday 11 and today the 12th of August put the finishing touches to the tunnel project and here are the pics of the mostly finished project. Just a few amenities to finish on it repairing a couple cracks and some other visual features and maybe some wildlife, if my little horsey doggie don’t chew em up. Hah LOL Regal

Yep Shawn I thought it was really good looking and the price was right. Over 150 pieces approx. only $19 total. When some more slush fund Hah LOL becomes available would like to get some more. Regal

Shawn don’t pay anything for rock he just takes it from the hikers while on patrol…wait…oohh you mean rock like sedimentary
