Large Scale Central

My take on an Engine Tote

Yea, well Randy has a lot of it waiting for him in and around that house. I don’t envy him for all that work he has to do. I laid my sidewalk using 16 inch square paveres, laid with the underside facing up.

Tom, et al,

As promised, I finalized the drawings for my loco carry case. Here is a link to the plans http://www.gscalejunkie.com/52insidecarry.html

Thanks Bob

You are going to have a very nice site!

Tom

Real nice design Bob. I think you may be more comfortable and balanced if you turn the handles 90º. Short of that rotate one handle 180º to square the box as you carry it. Just food for thought.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Maybe a touch of design intent might help. I looked at turning the handles 90 degrees, but it left insufficient material at the ends of the handles and I was afraid of possible breakage. I agree that from the ergonomics point of view the 90 degree position would be best. The current position of the handles, when lifted, keeps the lifting line on the center line of the carrier and does not remove all the material near the edge on the same side of the carrier.

Thanks for the compliments folks, a bunch of time invested, and I hope some will get benefit from it. I will be posting (sometime in the future) the original version that I need to complete the drawing for that was done for my K27. However if you study the drawings, it does not take much to change the length to almost any length desired.

Thought you had considered the alternatives. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

You saying there are alternative options?

Hello all, I’ve finally gotten around to finishing this up, less a coat of paint. But at least it’s completely functional now. I spent the better half of the morning cutting and fitting wood and foam pieces so that they would miss all the detail and still find a sturdy place to support the locomotive. The first photo shows the top half with all it’s newly added supports and foam and rubber.

The next shot shows old Millie inverted and ready for her check up.

Over all I’m pleased with it and it will do it’s job well, but I won’t use the same design again. Ive already got some ideas for improvements on the next go around. Fortunately I won’t have to worry about that any time soon since I don’t have the do to go buying any more engines, although that is a problem I wish I did have to deal with.
