Exactly why we keep a net on it!

Going to come up with a little better/easier way of taking the net on/off this year.

We have a boat marina about 1/8 of a mile away so we have a lot of herons that make there way past our pond!

We have some heron sculptures by our pond, never had a problem and one flies over our place all the time in the summer.

Cotter pins would work for a rail, drill a mall hole, tap them in and thread some welding rod through the hole on top.

Herons are solitary creatures. They won’t try to feed where another has staked out his territory.

Now, raccoons are different, but if the pool edge is steep enough and deep enough, and it looks like yours is, and if the fish has someplace to hide, a rock cave is nice, the 'coons can be defeated, too.

I am going to look into some heron sculptures!

Should be some popping up in my area shortly as all of the garden shops are starting to open up.

We have not had a issue with raccoons or possums (at this pond), I think because I leave this pond lighted all night. I have found those critters don’t like to be in lighted areas.

My last pond I had a family of possums almost wipe out my fish supply in less then a week!

We ended up trapping three of them in pet friendly style traps (using tuna fish as bait).

Then we released them about 4-miles away in the woods.

They were living under my neighbors shed, thats where we found the discarded eaten fish!

I am going to look into doing something like this!

Also received a call from my landscaper today that he is coming one day next week to remove all the grass in the area where we plan on putting the railroad!

Looks like I may actually be running trains at some point this summer!

If that bridge is 10 foot long, I find it hard to believe it is not going to sag, even if it is made of oak (apparently)

You might do well to put some metal angle under it… that is a looooong bridge.

There are (2) 10’ pieces of galvanized strut underneath, cross tied by (4) strut straps.

It isn’t going anywhere…unless another car crashes into my yard, like they did my house a few years ago!

The pleasure of living on a main street!

You can see the strut in this picture

And here is the Jeep that crashed into my house 3-years ago!

Snapped the natural gas line right off at the ground, missed the electrical panel by less than 12".

But he didn’t miss slamming right into my train collection!

Quite the mess…

Did you put a window in it’s place? Looks almost as if it was being framed out.

No, almost wish I did though, especially now seeing that we moved the fence up on that side of the house to make room for the railroad.

Being that the house is a raised ranch the supports that where taken out in the crash were not load baring, the beam right above them is though and if that had gotten damaged the building inspector said that the entire side of the house most likely would have collapsed.

Now a car will have to crash through my fence with steel posts to get at the house!

Smart move. Big bushes slow objects down, also.
