Large Scale Central

My own lumberyard

well, naming it a lumber"yard" might be not exactly correct. i store the boards in the attic.
if i need balsa wood, i have to import it from europe or the states. that is always a pain somewhere.
so, as my better half put on her “she-who-must-be-obeyed”-hat and ordered a small tree in our garden to be murdered - to make room for a fountain - i took the oportunity.
she liked the idea that i wanted to convert the tree partly into modelling material, instead of importing.
(i think, i will not mention the need for a tablesaw, before the wood is dry…)

at the sawmill they charged me about $6.70 for the work.

it is Timbo wood. nearly as soft as balsa is.

OK Korm, now I have to ask. What is the foam brick thingy next to the lumber?

By the way, nice looking stack there.

That’ll keep ya supplied for good long while…

Very odd. The photo is not showing up in IE.

But I can see the link in the editor.

If I could remember the passwords for all my accounts…I’d dump IE in a second

Ralph

Ralph, try this kormsen.info/thisnthat/bilder/lumber01.JPG just write the http: // before it.

i myself am using IE8 and it shows.

Ken, yes specially, because i have to wait for about a year and a half, before it will be dry.

(should be ready for the jan 2015 challenge…)

I’m using Firefox, and I can’t get it to show, either.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Steve,

I’m using the latest Firefox (20.0) and the photo shows and the link works.

Joe,

I’m using FF 20.something Beta.

I also have NoScript that someone recommended. Even turned off, the photo will not show.

It is a mystery.

I have no idea what I use but I see it. That is aneat way to get some lumber.

Dave, sorry, didn’t see your post at first.

it is styropour. a castle, i built about 15 years ago for my daugters’ playmobil chevaliers.

now it waits patiently for some grandkids and restauration.

all, i rechecked the pic and the space, where it is stored.

i haeven’t got the slightest idea, why the pic might not show.

Nice bit there Korm. It looks like it would fit in with the trains for the time being

well, yes, it could, if i had a gardenlayout. playmobil is the same scale as LGB.

but this castle has a footprint of 3’ x 2.5’. and my benchwork is prepared to have 3 foot between frontedge and backgrounds.

to include this castle i would have to build an underground trainstation or at least a tunnel below it.

… aaand, i would have less space for new buildings or scenery.
