Large Scale Central

My new FRED device

Made it for a friend. It’s slightly oversized due to the ‘stuff’ inside. Battery powered so track power isn’t needed and a switch to turn it off and on and a clip on the back so it can be mounted to a coupler, ladder grab or whatever. So far the batteries have lasted for 11 days flashing 24 hours a day. Plan on painting it yellow with a black stripe. Seeing if there would be an interest in them for you sinners er, I mean non caboose guys. Cost would be about $15

Terry

Terry,
I’m intrested…

Chas

Neat…Can you replace the battery?

Terry, I’d be interested in a few…

I’m interested, too.

Rooster, the batteries come out the bottom. It’s not super easy but it can be done. Soldering is needed because the wires are attached directly to the batteries.

It has an off/on/volume switch, right?

Just an on-off switch. You can see it on the left side. It’s a micro slide switch

well, I’ll start making some and get in contact with all those interested.

OK …I’m not a sinner but I want to be!!
I have cabeese but only for the ETD so when I do run at night(rarely) I can see the end of the train…yeah I’m interested.

Rooster, on the subject of changing batteries, my ‘test’ unit has been flashing now for 17 days 24 hours a day. 408 hours and counting!
I have a few units almost done, will post pics when I get there.

Terry

double post.

Put me down for one, please.

I’m sure it will last our lifetime even if you ran everyday…only reason I asked was it appeared like you sealed the battery inside…

The finished product. Sry it took so long I guess i’m a slow worker…

This last photo is an unfinished one but shows the clip on the back. Also I had to do away with the side handle, it just wasn’t working out. Terry

I have 4 made and offered them to the first 3 people to express interest (Andy asked for 2) I have to get switches and I’ll get going on more.

Terry

Andy wants them all!!!
Very nice!!

Thats really nifty!

Terry,

I’m in for one as well if you have extra.

Nick

I’ll start making some more.
