About a year ago I started to build some cars but I did not finish them. So this week I dug them out of the drawer and decided to continue on them. Still not quite complete, waiting for more Accucraft couplers from PNG and need to find something to build the brake wheels etc. These are not highly detailed models, just a reasonable representation of some NG boxcars. The 10’ - 20’ rule shall apply.
Nice work Randy. Looks like you can go with the 3’-5’ rule without a problem. Fine looking cars and cabinets. I like the flatcar decking too.
Thanks Hollywood. Just in case anyone wants to know how I started.

Hey Randy,
Those are great looking, like Dave said they should be in the 3’-5’ rule. What lettering are you going to be using?
Chuck
Those look great Randy. A lot of us here are firm believers in “Operations Quality”… enough detail to look good, but not so much things are always breaking off. That also incorporates the thought that it’s better to have 4 box cars with no detail underneath, than one super detailed car with all the brake rigging etc. that rarely, if ever, gets seen.
Those look great, exactly how about 90% of my rolling stock looks. The “Hey, its a boxcar” look, not the “Hey, its boxcar 12345 from the Erie on July 22, 1938, post-wreck rebuild” Good stuff.
Chuck haven’t figured out the lettering yet, RR doesn’t have a name yet. But might check out Del’s site and see what I can figure out.
Thinking
Kettle
Valley
Railway
in some sort of RR font.
The KVR ran through here til the late '80’s, it was not a NG line however, a branchline of the CPR.
So I will take a bit of poetic license and say it was NG.
I’ll give 'em a 2 foot rule.
No, a 1 foot rule. Them are nice!
Try the “Kaslo & Slocan RR.”
Ran thru your neck of the woods and was NG!

I have a wonderful book about it, full of great pictures.
I’ll see if I can scan a box car pic.
Yep the Kaslo & Slocan was a NG RR, Ran up to Sandon. That was gonna be my second pick. Lots of history on the net about it too.
A good source for books on the subject is sononis.com

Yes! Operations quality indeed! Well done.
I’ve been using the brake wheels from Ozark. But, I’d really like to find a good source of brass brake wheels; the white metal stuff bends too easily.
I can’t take it!!! FRESH BOXCARS!!!

Very nice work!
I’m senting Hollywood over to your house to give ya a ‘tuneup’
For lettering, try a white or ivory paint pen. Go for the hand-painted look. I use it on a bunch of my cars.
Bob - Where are you buying your paint pens? I looked around Home Depot & Lowes yesterday and didn’t see any. Doesn’t mean they don’t have 'em, I just didn’t find 'em.
Michael’s crafts has a good selection of them.
Try looking in craft shops for paint pens.

Very nice work!
Yankee Hoodlums!
Those look awsome Randy. Nice work. Leave it to Rooster to ruin nice paint work.
