My fathers book on Old Buffalo, NY

One of the last accomplishments my father managed before he passed away was to get one of his books published and on the shelves of major book retailers. Unfortunately he took ill just before Thanksgiving as was unable to attend any of the book signings that were scheduled for the Christmas season. The publisher has provided me with a supply of books to peddle, so I’ve put together a listing on eBay. This isn’t a history of Buffalo, NY but rather an anecdotal account of how things were in Buffalo from the 20’s when he was born, through the 90’s when he started writing the book as a series of short features for the Buffalo Evening News. A few years ago he got the idea of compiling these stories into a book and Remembering Old Buffalo was born. While the book was still in the process of being written, dad met Brian Meyer of Western New York Wares. Brian specializes in books and products about Western New York and loved dad’s idea. He helped dad take his simple manuscript to a very enjoyable book that is nicely produced and easy to read. If you have any interest in the Buffalo area, or just like to read about how things were in “the good old days” then you will enjoy this book. Find the eBay listing here.

Note to Bob: If you think this is “too commercial” just drop me an email and I’ll remove it.

Wow! What a wonderful thing to have. How interesting. I’m sure many of the articles are like listening to your Dad tell how it was. I wish I could go back and have the same style conversations again with my Dad, that has been gone since 1993. Talk about something to pass to your kids. Now imagine Matt sharing it with his grandkids. Pretty cool.

Yes - I’ve heard many of these stories over, and over again! But it’s wonderful to have them. The way Brian and his staff edited the book, the stores are still recognizable to family members, but you don’t need to be an “insider” to get it.

The other neat thing he did soon after my Mom passed in '82 was to compile 20 years of Christmas Newsletters written while my brother and I were kids and put them into a book just for the family.
