Some of you may have noticed, my email account got hacked somehow, and apparently everyone in my address list got spammed. Sorry about that. I just did a virus scan on my Mac (came up negative), and changed my email account password. I hope that’s enough to solve the problem.
So I am not related to a Nubian princess and I won’t be getting the 10 million for my $5,000 security deposit?

Looked like the one I got came from your AOL mailbox … guessing it’s not your machine, but their end of things that got hacked, assuming their mail and address book is still resident on their system…

Has happened to me a few times with my YAHOO! account.
Now I make sure that I have no contacts in my account. That seems to fix that problem. (Yes, I just knocked on my head!)

Don’t know if it’s related and I don’t want to do a guilt trip on Ray, but in the last two days I have been getting maybe a dozen spam messages in Spanish, for a variety of things (I don’t speak the language, but I can figure what they refer to, mostly). There’s a chance they may be coming from another source whose emial account may have been hacked, but what can you do? When someone you know sends you an email without a hundred forwards and that doesn’t have an attachment, yout think it’s legitimate and open it, right?
My geek buddies at work told me that basically, the people who hack into your account steal your name or whatever that’s called (handle, we said, back in CB radio days) and use that to spam you. So I’m guessing that’s what’s happening. Pretty darn annoying!
