My Baguley Drewry gets a Dallee sound system

For those that may be interested in my ongoing updates of the Accucraft Baguley Drewry diesel, this posting will continue on from this: http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=7712 Brandbright recently sent me their special Dallee # 632 sound chip that combines a Railbus sound with a heavier duty horn. This seemed more appropriate than the Phoenix Plymouth sound I had been using. That has been refitted to the LGB # 50 diesel I have. I now had the opportunity to revamp the little dismal and install a Dallee sound. Here is how the insides now look:

Placement of parts should be self explanatory. The new RCS BASIC-2 plus a B-SWITCH enables me to have all the sounds I need with fewer components than with the Phoenix P5 + P5T combination. Even the motor “noise” suppression is built into the BASIC-2. It runs smoothly and the sound is very good.

Tony, Does this sound system have the capability of engine sound and horn at the same time…or does the sound cut out when the horn blows.

Also, any chance a short vid of the locomotive with the new Dallee sound system could be posted to the vid forum?

Hi Warren.
Yes to both. Nothing cuts out although the bell is a bit naff!!!
I know how to take a vid in my camera, but I have no idea how to put it up on the net.
Something else I will have to learn as I want to have such videos on the RCS website.

Check with Bob. He should be able to tell you how to get a vid to this site. I’m anxious to hear it as I’m to the point with my critter that I need to start electronics. I’m not happy with what Phoenix has to offer for small locomotives. The Plymouth isn’t too bad but the horn absolutely sucks. Bell isn’t a problem as Aussie cane locomotives don’t have one.

You can’t change that with the inter-phase?

The choices for the Plymouth are the peanut whistle or the single chime. Neither is even close to what is used on the Australian cane locomotive. They use a horn that’s basically a single chime marine horn. Here’s the best example of what I’m after:

This locomotive is more along the style I’m modeling but has a dual chime horn.

Warren,

I agree they sound much better than the Phoenix Plymouth horns. One of the reasons I took the Phoenix out of the Baguley and put it into the LGB # 50 dismal.

I suggest you send those clips to Dallas at Dallee and ask him if he will put together a sound to your requirements.

I have now sent the links to those clips to Dallas to hear.

He did tell me he would be interested.

The outcome should be interesting. Do let me know what he says.

Hi Warren.

Dallee has viewed the clips and tells me he will be able to do both horns.
One is pretty straightforward as it only requires a pitch shift of the existing Dallee Leslie horn.
I hope to get a sample from him shortly.
If I like it I will let you know.

…grinning…
