We in the northeast are digging out of snow. Anybody on the forum near the mudslides in LA
Couple miles from me, guess I’m closest, have friends who are even closer but so far as I know they are OK, not THAT close.
They’ve been worried about this since the fires, people are angry because there was no reverse 9-11 calls to warn them, it happened so fast, but the news reported that a very bad storm was coming, it woke me up all night with some very heavy rains and very fierce winds so when they went to the “breaking news” with live coverage of massive mudflows filling the Devils Gate resevoir near us we werent too surprised. Its a mess but its a very localized mess, for the most part the catch basins worked, only a few overflowed, there are many up there. Could have been alot worse, luckily most homes were sufficiently barricaded that the worst mudflows were delayed from breaking into homes till people could get out, so no one was injured. More rain tommorow.
Just sounded like a bad situation out there and nobody had said anything, eventhough we have forum members who could be affected. Good to hear some of the measures worked but looks like a real bad situation for those affected by it.
We are about 5 miles from these homes. We have good friends who live on that street , Oceanview Blvd., (up the hill about 240 ft.) from the worst of the totally destroyed homes! Bad news!
