MTH Coach to Baggage Car

\

I got a MTH passenger shell off ebay. Had to make a roof and cover up the windows. I ended up using a Great Trains wood roof piece I got from Ray Greb, also Great Trains doors and trucks.

Conversion 1

I used some metal sheet I got from a newspaper in a small town. I was trying to save the UP lettering/color as much as I could.

baggage 2

I used some metal duct tape on the roof and the ‘riveted’ strips to hide the seams.

baggage 3

Trying to match MTH’s idea of a UP Yellow(after trying all the name brands) I ended up having it scanned and mixed at the local lumber yard. Still off some, but guess I’ll live with it. The door on the right slides so I can put a battery in it when I use it with a non-MTH locomotive to pull the passenger train. Will have a Rail Boss 4 Rx in it.

Nice job, Jerry!

Looks good Jerry !

Is there a “UP” prototype that you based the model off of?

I actually missed that MTH didn’t make a baggage until I saw Jerry’s. I need one for my Amtrak now!!
Very nice work.

Great work as always Jerry.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the paint, Jerry. It passes the 10 ft test, and after a few days in the sun, you won’t be able to tell the difference from a galloping horse.

Just blame it on the guys in the shop. They used what they had on hand to repair some scratch damage, and that’s the truth!

Looks great!

You got the sheet metal from a local newspaper? Wouldnt that be awfully hard to print on???

Looks great Jerry, the end result works well.
