OK, I did not post the first “derailing” post, but I did keep responding. My bad.

Earth to Dan (OP), over: any progress on your problem?

Greg

I didn’t have a chance to do anything today with the computer, other than checking my email. I will give Firefox a try, but I want to be sure that having a MAC that Firefox will do no harm. I’m sure you have guessed, by now, that I am uncomfortable doing anything technical with computers, especially my own. Thanks for checking in.

Firefox is much safer than Safari, since it cannot “touch” the operating system the way Safari can (since it comes from Apple)

Shows the percentage of the market. I don’t trust chrome, since google will sell every bit of information they can get from you (google makes the chrome browser).

I have personally installed it on Macs, and it will do no harm.

I’ll be here to help if needed.

Regards, Greg

Ok Greg , a really dumb question, if I install firefox, what comes up as a home page and what happens to any stuff saved , like emails etc on MSN, I would like to move too, just tech lousy, lucky I can find my way on here some times

OK, so if you install a new browser, it won’t have your cookies (saved logins) and it won’t have your favorites.

BUT

Most browsers will export the favorites, and Firefox will import them. Safari will export your bookmarks/favorites to a file, and FireFox will import them. Takes less time than it took to type this paragraph.

Your emails on the MSN web site are on the web site, not in your browser. You can go to any browser on any computer to read your emails using the web interface.

Also you can have multiple browsers on your computer with no issue, you are not removing the old browser, I did not mention this, sorry I did not mention earlier.

For example I have Edge, Internet Explorer, FireFox and Chrome on my computer. They are just programs.

Greg

Okay, greeting page fixed. We can now see all the news that’s fit to print, no matter how bad or silly it is…LOL

Greg, my daughter-in-law happened to stop by a couple of days ago. Up to that point I hadn’t tried anything with Firefox, hoping that one of my children would do it for me. Long story short, she spent an hour and a half, more patience than I have for computers, working on what she thought might be the issue. She was just about to download Firefox and something must have caught her eye. here, there was a little box checked that said something like, "Do not allow any fonts smaller than 12, I believe she said. She unchecked the box, and logged back onto Safari. Voila !! We have the news !!

Thank you for your help and replies.
