Moving the harvest

Handling the record crop on the prairies has people scrambling - as the CP conductor mentioned overlength grain trains are right now the rule.

2009 through 2011 I remember the coal unit trains usually having between 127 and 140 cars, that seems to have increased to 150+ cars.

I asked if the mining outfits enlarged the loading loops. He didn’t know. Of course they could be adding the extra cars at Golden when they re-marshall. Time to get over there before the snow starts piling through the passes.

Not enough to produce it . . . . . it is necessary to get it to where it is to be consumed.
