Moving back inside

Hello,

After not being able to run a trainon the RR since Fall of 2003, I am working to restore the RR from all the damage done by weather last year. This spring hasn’t helped any with record rainfalls and more erosion. I have very little scenery out as what I had put out just disappeared or was destroyed.

I am building a 24 X 36 2 story garge this Spring, HA! how about when I get construction weather. The upper floor the wife says is mine…as long as she can reclaim the basement! Sooo…the train storage and work area as well as the shop will move to the 2nd floor.

As I was struggling to rebuild earlier this week I came to the conclusion that my 600+ feet outdoors is more than I can manage in this environment. With the heavy winds, rain, tornados and snow I spend all my time trying to rebuild rather than run trains.

I am going to try to finish this route’s repair. I had started a rerouting of the upper branch last fall. Track is on blocks and connected but nothing else is done with it. I am going to leave it as is. While I build the garage and maybe run some trains, if I can, I’ll evaluate the RR and decide what part of the RR will stay and what part will get lifted. That stuff will go inside for a layout I can run all year long! The rest will stay or maybe get redone into a smaller blended RR.

Sorry for the long dissertation…

Has anyone else run up against the same issues? What did you do? I wonder how many have given up G scale as a result of similar problems.

Maybe my expectations were too high for the condition I have here and the time I can devote to it.

Thanks for reading the ramble…
