Large Scale Central

Movie with trains

We went to see “Leatherheads” last night. The movie was funny and enjoyable. The bonus is a large number of scenes, both inside and outside, of steam passenger rail service immediately following the “Great War.”

Understand most of the train shots were from the North Carolina Transportation Museum area. George Clooney had a hand in the movie’s production i believe and was impressed with the trains.

Rented 3:10 to Yuma last night.
Not much train, but a lot of killing. In fact, I couldn’t identify the locomotive.
Pretty good western…

I watched the “extras”.
They said the locomotive was trucked in to the filming location from Arkansas.

For a laugh rent “Flyboys”, and see the Hogwarts Express doubling as a Union Pacific train, Hi-larious!

My top 5 Best train movies:
The Train
The General
Emperor of the North
Von Ryans Express
Our Hospitality - a Buster Keaton film that has one of the funniest train rides I have ever seen, complete with Stephenson’s Rocket!

You don’t see a lot of trains in “Schindler’s List”, but the train shots that are used are incredibly effective.

There is something utterly final about a train stopping in close proximity to a gas chamber.
