Mount Emily Shay

Mornin’ all - just having a look-see to determine if any of you from over on the west side have any images of the Mount Emily Lumber Co. three-truck Shay operating out of Prineville OR. The piccies on the site are pretty small to determine the font, and Mr Tapporo needs good clear instructions to make his fine vinyl lettering.

TIA

Dear Mr Donovan - thanks a lot for those pix - they looks remarkably like the Shay #1 over at Prineville. I’ve noted that it’s quite a lot different from the Bachmann three-truck version of course, but not beyond the wit of man to convert, given time, energy and a bit of skill. Thanks again. tac www.ovgrs.org

No…one of those is the former Feather River Lumber Co Shay No 3 that is running as Cass Scenic RR No11…the other one missing its smokebox is the former Meadow River Lumber Company Shay No7…

Wow, lots of great pics!

That last picture of Cass #3/ Mt. Emily #1 is a little confusing at first. Because the cab is removed it almost looks like the chassis ha been cut at the cab and the tender is on the flat car behind it. I had to study the other pictures for a while to realize that the tank sits inside the cab.

Great pics, guys! You are the tops!

tac

Yep the cab was just a sheet metal shell grafted to the oil tank, On the coal fired Shays this is just an empty bunker. I guess the cab was removed for clearance issues since it was being shipped home by rail, the last two Shays that came into Cass came cross country by Truck! Gee Jon…and you wanna complain about taking a little ol camper into them thar hills…
