Motor problem

The shaft of the electric motor in my Buddy L loco moves back and forth about an eighth inch. This causes the worm gear to butt up against the nylon space of the intermediate gear. Is there anything that can be done about this? Or should I just give up on it?

Ray,

Someone described the motor as “similar” or the same as the Bachmann Big Hauler motor. If that is trueI would think you could swap in a Big Hauler motor. If you can take a picture, I can identify it. And probably replace it.

If it is the Bachmann Mabuchi motor, it isn’t too practical to open up the can an insert the number of spacers necessary to hold that armature in place. The tabs on the motor can may break and then nothing is there to hold the end piece in place.

Let me know how I can be of help to you.

Thanks Barry. Soon as I get my new digicam, I’ll send you a pic of the motor.

Ray,

Maybe this is simpler…if you know what the Bachmann BH motor looks like, is it the same motor in your Buddy L?

Is it close to being like it?

The only Big Hauler I’ve ever had was the original battery operated one.

Ray,

Send me your email address to me: [email protected] I’ll send you a picture of the Big Hauler motor.
