Mother Nature is driving me crazy!

After months of working on the weekends and most of them just as if it was early summer. I finally get a weekend off to really do some work to get my railroad moving and now Mother Nature is giving me SNOW! It is April 14th right we are weeks into spring and another cold weekend with this time with the occasional snowflake. Last weekend due to the wonderful freezing temperatures my work lost over 80% of the 200+ acres of grapes. Now I am off work and I can’t work on the railroad. I started this railroad last summer then took a new job and it was put off till now.

Now the half of the layout that was ready to roll, has a lot of ballast washed away after winter and some of track looks like I layed it while drinking my own product. Now with a 3 day weekend in my grasp I am inside looking at it through a cold and rainy window. Although yesterday I did get the tunnel finished, the dry creek bed finished and temporarilied lay the rest of the track. Hopefully Sunday will be better weather wise and I can get the first train rolling. My goal is to dig the trenches and fill with crusher fines tomarrow weather permitting.

Should I wait till we get a good week of warm weather dig the trenches and lay the track or just do it now? If I do go for it, will I be facing the same problems of warped track later on when the weather warms up and stays at normal temps?

Any and all help is needed, Thank you

Im fighting the same thing here. This weekend I SHOULD be planting beans and peas, and doing spring maintenance…instead, they’re predicting snow/sleet/rain through monday…

ARGH!

Bummer. Sorry to hear that Ma Nature is giving you guys such a hard time. I know that must be frustrating.

Are you sure it is a drive? My ex always claimed that, for me. it was just a short putt.

Mik, it might be a short put but sometime I just don’t sink it on the first few strokes. I see you are from Indiana, PA. Spent 3 years there at IUP. Go Indians… Oops I mean Squirels.

I think they decided on “Crimson Hawks” or some such…Methinks all this politically correct nonsense has gone a bit too far. Wonder what they are going to do with their “warrior spirit” statue?

I’ve given up on MOTHER Nature; but her daughter seems nice…!!!

Fr.Fred,

Oh yes … have a closer look at Mother and you’ll have a good idea what Daughter will turn out to be.

Nature is your sister, not your mother.

She can, however, be quite annoying.

Todd,
That’s how life is, you have to pick the moments and get done what you can, when you can.
