A spare LGB #2090 diesel was sacrificed for the cause. Siderods were removed and drive wheels replaced with black solid disc type wheelsets. Sideframes from a #2051 Euro diesel were fitted. Largescale Lionel Thomas driver figure fitted. Aristo tender wire connectors fitted each end to ensure smooth pickup over plastic frogs. I modified a troublesome truck to pick up power to connect to the loco. Additional weight block added as the black disc wheelset did not have a traction tyre.
You’ve made a pretty good version of “Ernest the Engine” now go make “Stevie the Steam Engine” and don’t forget the stutter
I am always surprised by the interest Thomas engenders.
Thomas comes to my Heritage Railway annually - finances dictate that he is welcomed. Actually he is a PITA to many railroad employees. lol
Alan… if its any consolation, he is just as big a PITA (considering the difference between British and American loading gauges, probably a bit bigger) on this side of the pond.
I just want the face!
