More CP Rail stuff

It took me a while but I finally caught two GenMerch trains at the same location, smack on the Sicamous swivel bridge.

The Columbia bridge at Revelstoke looks even larger from slightly below.

One of the Coal Unit trains rolled into Revelstoke at “High Noon” on Friday — coming off Rogers Pass — and at the same time the Merchandise train drifted into town from the opposite end.

Revelstoke 3: Coal Train meets MerchandiseTrain

After lunch I headed up Rogers Pass, but there was a 3 hour lull in the action. Gave me a chance to check out some of the other likely shooting spots. As Murphy’s Law would have it some of the really good ones have no parking possibility — not even the “Sorry officer, I didn’t realize that” kind — within a nice hiking distance. But hiking is healthy, as long as I stay out of the traffic on the TCH.

Did I mention that it was absolutely gorgeous weather? :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t they know that with a empty flatcar behind the locomotives with a heavy train behind it will be a derailment on the curves ?

nice videos hj

Gorgeous weather in gorgeous country. What a cool place to watch trains. Nice videos too!

I like Vimeo so much better than blur tube.

HJ,

Thanks for sharing. I have to agree with Jon, what a great place to watch trains.

Thank you, Gentlemen!

Friday promises to be a repeat with slightly higher temps. The plan is to follow the Jasper section of the Rocky Mountaineer from Kamloops at least partway to Jasper. That is on the CN Transcontinental, probably a different mix of trains to meet. Haven’t been up on the Yellowhead for 30 odd years, I’m sure things have changed.
