Modge Podge for Decals

Have any of you used Modge Podge High Gloss for the base or sealer of water slide decals?

I have tested it for compatibility on some scrap painted plastic. Gave a dose of Solvaset and coating of Krylon Clear Gloss Coat. No problems with either. Wondering about the longevity and final appearance.

Nope, only used it on my butt once after I shaving it.

This from the guy who used to eat Elmer’s Paste in second grade for dessert.

I usually use Krylon matte over Krylon top coat colors for decals and transfers.
But next time I order something from Amazon, I’ll try this product.

There’s a Krylon that is UV protected. Not sure your Mod Podge will hold up?

P.S. here is what happened when I sprayed a test spot on my varnished coach:

It’s not actually varnished - it is Minwax poly gloss. Either way they didn’t like each other.

Assume you mean this and not the PVA stuff Mod Podge is famous for?


Yes, I have used it back when I was making inkjet decals. It’s really no different than any other clear acrylic spray. In fact, It’s likely rebranded from some other manufacturer.
