I noticed I used a different shade of yellow on it.
So? You say that like its a bad thing.

I know what you’re saying Dave , these cars come in a lot of different shades of yellow. I suppose in real life its possible that the car could have been painted in the Railbox yellow instead of the more badgeish yellow.
Thanks Brian
Mike, that and the sun fades paint into some odd shades. Over in Oakdale there was a pink steam roller. I am pretty sure it wasn’t painted pink the last time it actually was painted. And then if you weather the thing, a good over-spray of grime, and dust, will tone it down.
I like it in the railbox yellow. Get it outside in the sun. That makes a big difference to how it looks too. You may like it then.
. I’m looking at it …I think i’ll be heading back to the hobby shop . It almost looks florescent in the sun.(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0853.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0855.jpg)
I dunno, I like the contrast. And after a layer of road grime, it won’t fluoresce as much.
I agree with David.
Well I went and repainted the car. I did hear you all about the contrast in shades and agreed that was the way to go. However I was looking to re create that weathered lighter chalky tone as a contrast to the darker TTX yellow. So I mixed The Trailer Train yellow with some white and used that. I’m happy with the color and it represents the shade of yellow I was looking for. What do ya think ?(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0856.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0858.jpg)
That’ll work. Good choice.

Thanks guys for the comments. Next thing to do is get some clear coat on it and wait till I have the $$$ for decals . In the mean time I decided to get started on the load for it. I cut strips of .060 plastic 24 and 1/2 actual inches long and 20 1/29th scale inches wide and glued three of them together to form this big “steel” beam. This is the first one I did. The load will be removable in one piece when its all done .(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0859.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0860.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0861.jpg)
Oh my! He even scratch-builds good looking H beams. The last one I tried to make, looked like the main member of the local pretzel factory.
The beam looks good, but make sure you calculate the total weight of the beams before to build to many. You wouldn't want to ruin the look of the model by making an over weight load. The March 2016 issues of Model Railroader has a decent article about steel loads for flat cars. I just happened to check that issue out from the library...
Making those H beams out of .060" stock looks a lot easier than trying to do it out of .015" stock like I've been trying to do with my Snow Dozer!!!
I can really push down on .060 when I bond it together, that’s a good thing. Down side I would guess is they would be real heavy if real. Those are gonna be some heavy duty beams when i’m done . Big bridge or skyscraper type.
