Modeling rushing water

On an indoor layout how would you model fast moving water like in a log flume

that is, how i went about it:

Yeah Korm I read this thread with great interest awhile back. It is a great example of a river. However its a bit serene for a log flume. I need white water. I am thinking of using your technique for a damned up section at the top of the flume and the mill pond.

I did a white water stream in O scale… I sculpted the water in plaster, painted with acrylics and topped with a dozen coats of clear to build depth.

Do you want to send logs moving down the chute or represent it? I don’t think white water scales down. You’ll best be able to suggest it by paint under a clear coat.

Put a coat on and figure where you want disturbances. Highlight areas with paint as desired.

Put on and comb down the flume as it sets up so the look you want remains. It was first advertised as 50 coats in 1.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

for white water i would stick with the clear resin. but making a top layer with transparent two part epoxy. when that is set, some drybrushing of the waves with a very clear/light greenish white.

No I don’t want real water. Simulated for sure.

One of the issues I can see right from the get go is whatever I use can’t be very runny. Its not going on a flat surface. John’s pictures show the undulating flume. So I was thinking many light layers being painted on and built up. Was thinking like over a plaster base or something.

Dave that stuff is the cats meow. This will solve the non flat surface and allow me to built the white water in just a few steps.

Thanks

Here is the stuff

After watching that video to the end this stuf is awesome and will do the trick. You will paint the flume the base colors and then put this stuff down and it dries glossy clear then you paint the white water with a bluish white. Looks great.
