Another great looking boxcar Bruce. Rodney replied, he is selling the pockets.
First class job, as usual.
Ralph
Rodney is getting into casting quite a bit. Has some nice trucks with metal wheels also.

Dave - you are too funny.
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum seems to do the trick for me. It cleans out lots of stuff real fast!
Jon.
Boy this looks great Bruce. I just have one question- is the acrylic boxcar one of those offered by Andre?
Again very inspiring.
Dave
I am honored to reply that it is indeed one of my “kits”.
Andre`
OK Andre how do one order from you?
Dave

Krylon ruddy brown primer applied

Still have to add the lift bar chains and the roof walk
All the pictures of the steps taken to create this car have been pretty cool. But, there’s nothing like a coat of paint to make something look so exceptional. I know it’s just a primer but wow!
Jon.
Oops. I was being a bit misleading. Primer is the final color.
Fantastic. Who’s trucks do you use on these scratch builds? Can’t really call this a kit build, even though the basic car structure is Andre`s kit, you have added so much detail that it qualifies as a scratch build in my book.
Thanks. I use Aristo-Delton arch bar trucks with Sierra Valley 24" wheels.
Cool, thanks. That’s the truck I’ve been using, but with Aristo’s metal wheel. Not sure what the scale diameter is. I really like them - they track nicely with the operating springs.
Whoa, it looks great painted. How many sheets of the scribed wood did you need to cover it?
Dave
Dave,
Here’s my logic for ordering sides. The basic side is 4 3/8" high. That means that I can get 5 pieces out of each 24" length. It also takes a little over 5 pieces of 3 1/2" width to cover a car that’s almost 18" long.
So, 1 piece per side. Now, the ends are about 4 3/4" high. And it will take about 3 pieces of 4 3/4" high to cover both ends.
And two pieces for the doors; I forgot the doors when I ordered mine. They’re close to 4" high.
So, I think you could cover the car with THREE sheets of the siding from MicroMark. I ordered 60817, the 3/16" wide stuff (http://www.micromark.com/wood-siding.html).
It might also be interesting to try the stuff from NorthEastern - http://northeasternscalelumber.com/osc/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_36_67_80&products_id=199
It’s 1/32" thick, instead of 1/16".
Thanks for all the info Bruce.
Dave
Bruce,
If you don’t mind sharing, where do you purchase the Aristo-Delton trucks? I live in the panhandle of Florida, and there isn’t a hobby shop within 100miles worth driving to.
Bob C.
Bob,
I got mine from Ridge Road Station some time ago. I suspect the prices have increased a bit.
