Large Scale Central

Model a Mine?

I had a thought the other day Has anyone ever modelled a working mine underground? I have seen modules at train shows in different scales that have little windows into tunnels and mine scenes setup inside. Not that I want to build anything like that but I wonder if anyone has. It might make a interesting indoor shelf diarama but how could it be done outdoors? I’m just thinking…

Todd,

One of our club members made one for the Del Oro Pacific set up. (I think).

It was an underground cutaway with shafts and a working hoist. There was a video somewhere posted, but I can’r find it. Maybe one of our So Cal members can help. I’ll see if the member knows where it is (on line.)

It’s part of their shortline; Door Hollow Shortline.

Thanks, Matt. I’d forgotten about the Door Hollow Shortline.

Thanks for the video. That is a neat setup there.

That would be cool to do outdoors. I have a subway under my RR. You just cant see it but its their, I swear.

Yeah Shawn, and I have all that under my mine as well, along with all the mechanical stuff in the buildings.

Trust me, it’s there.
