Sorry for my ignorance but what does MLS stand for?
Thank you Mr Seabrooke …I asked this earlier in the thread but got no real answers as I would like to know myself.
And I thought you were only kidding! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
I thought he was kidding as well. How does one really know when Mr. Russell is here asking serious questions or offering real tangible advice or when we have Rooster. I get confused.
I still post there, going to stop when I hit 20,000 posts. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Who’s coming to Marty’s?

I told myself that I would quit posting here when I hit 10K. That lasted about 3 weeks.
Yeah, I don’t think I’ll ever “catch” you. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Devon, so do I. So I take anything he says, expecting some sarcasm to be mixed in with it.

Heck I even chuckled at the dismissive tone!
Imagine a victim of his own acerbic humor!

As Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Barbarino said : I’m so confused
I find them pretty similar, although the folk are different. Lots of newbies find MLS first and post questions instead of doing a search to find what’s already been posted on the topic. I’ve given up answering - except to point out how to search and what results they can expect. Getting like TOC.
The “Active Topics” list on MLS is my way of accessing the site. I find that LSC’s “home” page has a similar list of active threads, but it isn’t very long. If you are traveling for a few days there will be threads that drop off and you never see them unless you scan the topics. Maybe we can persuade Bob to extend the list on the home page to a week or so of threads?

Agreed. Sometimes it even takes less than a day. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Yes, I have “found” topics that get bumped back onto the list, and have wondered how I missed that one.
I came over from Large Scale Online when they shut down. I do read articles from MLS and LSC because I have found there is a lot of knowledge out there on both sites. I do spend most of my time reading here when I have the chance. And I do appreciate my questions being answered here, otherwise I would be up the creek because the closest large scale people are in Memphis and that is 2 hours away.
Ron, Cleveland in Mississippi is a place I’d never heard of, so, being curious, I look it up, and WOW! there are some really cool brick buildings that look to me like they are just dying to be modelled by someone.
John, many towns and cities have such buildings. I have been seeing some nice (and some not so nice) architecture here in York, that also begs to be modeled.
Like Ron, I am an LSOL orphan. I never got into MLS, because I stumbled across a few flame wars over there and it soured my opinion of the place, and now that they have gone deep into advertising, I am less inclined to hang out there. However, there are some great build articles and threads over there. Here at LSC there is a whole lot less BS going on. Bob will toss out people who don’t know how to play nice. We don’t have to agree on the subject at hand, but we also do not have to stoop to personal attacks. This is a hobby after all, and a hobby and its supposed to be fun. I thank Bob for his efforts to try and keep t that way.
I’ve been on work travel this week, and haven’t had the best Internet access or the time to use it. So wow, what a lot of comments.
First off, Bob & everyone, please forgive me if I seemed uncharitable in initial post, I sure didn’t mean to be. Where I’m coming from is that LSC is the place I need to participate more in, but (due to ignorance or lack of attention) have been having trouble getting the hang of in certain areas.
So I’m grateful for the many tips that have been shared, among them:
These will be very helpful when I start a “build log.” BTW, the main utility for me there isn’t so much to preserve “my contribution to the hobby,” because I’m very much a novice in most areas here. Rather, it’s important for me to preserve the advice I receive, so that when I finally get to that step I can employ it.
Bob has created a masterpiece here, and I find it simply amazing that he does it as a hobby, not a full time job. Thanks very much Bob. And I’m looking forward to understanding the tools better.
With best regards all,
Cliff

Oh yeah the subject of this thread…
At MLS it’s Live Steamers that suffer the rest of us and here it’s Operators that suffer us… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Neither core cares about the ‘My way is Best’ dramas, they mostly sit back run their trains. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
I was a Lysol run away, every newsletter became a promo to buy … in my eyes. I left before the fun. Were a couple of guys I wonder about…
