I was perusing Bob’s “Building an EBT Boxcar in 1:20” and noticed that the pictures stopped around page 10. The spacing i still there.
Is there a .PDF of the article hidng anywhere?

Hi Pete -
The pictures got lost in a server crash a few years ago. Bob did mention a while back that he intended to re-take them. I don’'t believe a PDF was ever made. I started one for my onw nuse, but never got past the first page. I have several kits waiting to be built so I could really use the photos too.
Hello LSC boxcar builders - Did anyone archive the pictures?
I’m still waiting, too. I have four of them to build.
I elect Steve and Bruce to handle this. Steve - Mail one of your kits to Bruce to build and photograph then document the results.
Bruce is nearly done with his passenger car and needs a project to keep him out of trouble
What say you?
I do have this one. http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/thejoat/Boxcabs/Large_Scale_Central_-_EBT_Boxcar_Instructions.pdf
You da Man, Bruce. Thanks very much.
There seem to be a lot of unbuilt kits around. I’d ask if I could buy one, but I’m having a brass model built in India for myself. (There will be another half-dozen made if anyone else wants one!)
See - I knew Bruce would fix it Saving that on my hard disk right now.
It might be possible to extract those pictures to restore the article. I’ll see if I can do that (the extraction).
Thanks, Bruce. Perhaps I can get these off my workbench this winter.
@Bob if you are listening. I extracted the photos and put them here http://lsc.cvsry.com/EBT_Boxcar/ numbered from the top of the article.
I think it might be better to have all articles as a PDF anyway.
Maybe all articles should be converted?
That way, if someone moves their pictures at least they’re still in the article.
And, if someone wants to print it out, it sure is a lot easier.
I certainly agree with Bruce about articles being presented in a PDF format. An article with missing pictures is almost useless.

When I started I figured it would be easy. Didn’t realize there were over 100 photos in that PDF! Was falling asleep at the end so I hope I got them all and they are in proper order.
If it would be easier for you to put them on your system I can grant you FTP access. Just email or call.

Pete Thornton said:While the PDF is great to have (thanks Bruce for providing it) it really needs some formatting work - the captions for the photos are generally not on the same page as the photo and there is a lot of wasted space. Please don't think I'm bashing the PDF because I'm not. It takes a huge amount of work to create a professional looking document - it's one of the things I do in my job. I actually started the task in 2007, but learned someone else was doing it so I stopped after the second page was done.Quote:Why not just replace your article with the .PDF that Bruce generated from the original ?

The HTML article does not have the formatting issues and it’s not all that easy to replace an article with a PDF the way the articles section is built. Bob could (and probably should) include a link to the PDF in the article.
Got em, John. There’s a neat firefox extension “Download them all!” that lets me grab all images from a page.
I think I have everything clean now, just went through the whole article.
BTW, there is a “Grab this article as a PDF” in the articles section.
Cool. Learned two things today
While we’re at all this,
@Bob-is it possible for authors to go in and edit articles? I wanted to re-format mine a little, but couldn’t see how.
John Le Forestier said:Yep. Go into Articles, and in the upper right, hit the "Write an article" link. Itll take you to your articles, where you can edit them.

Ha! Ha! - I couldn’t see how to fix my first one, so I didn’t want to do another one, so never clicked there! Glad to get the info. Will get to it later. Cheers.
