Large Scale Central

MinWax-ing

Decided that the “Restaurant” could do with slightly older walls. Soooo I applied some MinWax stain to them

Looks better, but the smell of that stain. WHOA! It’s a good thing that SWMBO is away in Europe, there would have been some comment regarding the smell. :open_mouth:

HJ…the label clearly states “apply in a well ventilated area”. I guess it means it.

PS…but it does look great!

Thanks Bob  Usually I just open the garage door, but it was so damn windy - yes up here, too - that putting up with the smell seemed the smaller problem. Oh yeah, I opened the door today. :open_mouth:

H-J; MinWax do offer a water-based version. I used it for the scratch-built stable I made for my younger daughter’s Nativity set. I worked indoors and SWMBO never complained. (The second photo was taken in dim light using my daughter’s phone, hence the darker finish on the stable.)

You may want to look for the water-based stain for your next project. Best, David Meashey

Nice looking building HJ, what is it made out off?

@ Dave,

good to know. Next time I have to look a bit harder … and hope they have the colour I’m after.

@ Chuck

Started out as two ModelPower Aspen Ski Hut kits (bargain price!), it is a take-off on the POLA Schönweiler Switchtower.
