Well anyway I’m building it and I’m sure it will be an easy build and the back woods, car shop look is what intrigues me. BB
Here’s the prototype pic for the “other” Heisler model. (The full size “mini” Heisler):
Yes Joe I saw that one when I was searching for mine, said that it was to only single truck/boggie heisler ever built by Heisler so I sort of looking stopped there

Want a true non-heisler heisler?

Wouldn’t that make a truly unique model? I just have to find a Heisler without the boiler. . .

Or I’ll pay the postage for it …(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
So would that be considered a diesel Heisler, what ever it is it’s cool
Bill, I was just about to start a new thread on this diesel, but I see you’ve already done that for your loco, so I’ll add my thoughts here. I noticed that Smallbrook Studios, who do cast resin parts, have a little self-contained truck. It is optionally available with spoked wheels.
A couple of them would make a good starting point for the diesel. I could ‘remote’ the battery and switch off the truck, I hope.
Looks like a neat idea 1 diesel 1 wood kind of neat look forward to seeing yours, do they say how much it is? BB
Will the real Diesel Heisler please stand up!
As mentioneed above Heisler did factory build one diesel locomotive using the same trucks and running gear as their steam locomotives.
I have been collecting info on this engine for years wanting to build it. I am a dedicated steam guy but this loco is just so unique it begs to be built. But finding Heisler trucks is impossible and buying an engine just to salvage the trucks is not in my game plan. So the project has lingered. Now maybe thanks to Pete’s post above I may have a starting point, have to look into it. Thanks Pete, I think(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Bill, they list the little chassis as 98 British pounds.
Eric
The Bachmann GE 45 Tonner is sort of the same idea.

Yes, I noticed that when I saw one for sale a couple of days ago. I know you can easily get the wheels off - Clem converted one to standard gauge (70mm). I bet the sideframes are cosmetic.

Yes, but in the UK they have a 20% VAT which is cancelled for export. So divide by 1.2 and the price is £81.67, and today that is $103. With the caveat that some small vendors don’t fremove VAT as it is too cumbersome, and Smallbrook Studios seems to be one of them; I paid full price last time. Nothing to stop you asking though.
If anyone wants to buy that Black 45 Tonner on Facebook for $190 to get the trucks, I’ll buy the complete chassis from them. I need a black chassis to duplicate the wreck repair of M-10 on M-11.
EDIT TO ADD: I do not want the other black one on FB for $100 since the chassis is damaged. If it was just body damage I would have snatched it up.

Bill, I thought you started a new thread?
Pete, I did and when I replied to this one I just missed it wasn’t mine and posted my update to it by mistake, have reposted to the correct one just didn’t check enough and notice the ? mark after mini heisler, thanks, Bill
From the first page, the links to the fireless engines, where the diesel-electric Heisler was first mentioned, I also found this… right up the alley of the rail truck crowd: http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,122953,123207#msg-123207
Finally getting back to it, the nephropathy is finally starting to wear off in my fingers after the long hospital stay and can now feel through most of them so I thought I would try and get the mini heisler restarted. Got the motor wired and most of the engine together. The little of everything engine will run soon, consisting of a LGB powered tender, PVC pipes, domes from a Lionel 0-6-0 Cab is off a aristocraft 2-4-2 stack is off a Bachmann g scale shay, headlight is from a Bachmann 4-6-0, antlers are from a Christmas ornament, steam cylinders came off a LGB stanza, rivets are half sided 2 mm plastic beads glued on, side running gear is springs and brake pieces off a echo tender chassis, rear tender part is cut from an echo engine tender, lower frame side running gear is springs and brake pieces off a echo tender chassis trimmed with brass wire, + a lot of other train and hardware parts. Still to come is both the front and rear bolsters with Kadee couplers with a few detail touches, making this what I call a mini Heisler as the drive is hidden. It has been a fun build and getting close to completion just something to keep the old mind busy
try and get the mini heisler r C
Yay! Always good to feel like projects and to be able to do those projects.
Love its road number.
Fireman somehow looks like his name should be Freddie.
