Large Scale Central

Mina Mine bunkhouse

Looks great! But, why does the roof need to be removable? :innocent:

Replacing lights, repairs, etc.

Lights, eh? That’s pretty cool.

Yep. A small 12v to 5v buck converter and an amber LED and resistor.

Neat! Should we plan on a little “night” running this summer? :innocent:

Yup!

End peaks are done. 8” siding. Now for some removable attachments. Probably magnetic.

I love using magnets and I probably should have used them even more. It’s a cheap and easy way to make parts easily removable.

Getting things buttoned up, I decided to try and get a picture of the light. Looks pretty good.

Working on the porch roof columns and beams now, and then this will be done except a few details and whatever kind of footings I decide on.

Ok, this will work. Lots of 1/16 hardwood dowels as pins on all of these. Now to glue and pin it to the frame.

That really looks nice, Bob.

Impressive.

Bob,

where did you find true 1/16 dowels? the Midwest ones say they are 1/16 but are actually.085 or so.

Al P.

No idea. They were in my stuff that I’ve had for ages. I’m assuming the size, they fit into the drilled hole snug enough.

EDIT: Wait, did I say 1/16? I meant 1/8th. Sorry about that.

Wow!! that is an awesome build Bob! Too bad it cannot be in the Challenge, that would be a winner!

Thanks Pete. I started this over a year ago, but the giant mess in my shop got in the way! Almost done now. I’m in a “get these projects done” mood, so we’ll see what gets finished next.

OK, putting a bow around this for now, until I can place it and figure out what details I need, and if I want to build steps on each end, and maybe some kind of railing between the uprights.

I did start the rusting on the roof and siding, to see how it was going to end up.

I’m pretty pleased with how this turned out.

Bob, this turned out to be a very nice build. The steel shingle roof looks great now and will look even better once Mother Nature adds her weathering. It is a great representation of the original.

That came out fantastic.

Nice work! I suspect the biggest problem you will face with this building is WHERE to put it… :innocent:
