Large Scale Central

Milwaukee Boxcar Part II

Went a little bit further on this one.

Modified the roof to closer represent a Murphy Type II roof, redid door to closer represent a CRECO type door, did the short ribs with door and end panels, added an intermediate rib like the ones built during WWII, added full length side sills, added repair panels and masked out repainted areas. Still not an exact model of the prototype, but captures the flavor of the real ones. Besides, it keeps me occupied with the research, building and painting for a long amount of time. I can buy a new boxcar and after an hour of running its just like the others I have in my fleet, where as by doing some work I can spend over a month working on one before it can join my fleet. Nice work Keith. Any other pics of the car? Top, end on ?

End view - pretty much just removed the rivets since these were welded cars.

Top view - removed stock running boards, sanded roof smooth, added styrene sheets and “tee” stock to make Murphy Type II roof (missing large panel at the ends, but hey, it looks close), added Aristo see thru roofwalks.
