Nothing fancy just a regular band. Not too course and not too fine. I set up a fence, lowered the wheel guides to their lowest setting then used a stick to press the wood tight so the blade wouldn’t wander and pushed the length of wood through. On the larger pieces, the 1/2x 1/2 I ripped those on my table saw.
Believe me they are not as smooth as they appear in the photo. The uneven roughness should give the whole tipple a good look when it gets stained or given the ink treatment.
Here inam trying to figure out how to add saw marks and Pete is looking to eliminate them
@RevDev Two ways to get that re-sawn or ruff sawn look.

After set up of the guide just wack the back end ( out feed end) with a mallet towards the blade after barely loosing the rip fence, this will have the blade skimming the out feed end and scoring the wood. You do get some saw dust thrown at the feed end.

Dedicate a blade to the re-sawn works. Take and bend two teeth on the blade in the opposite directions, R & L, from the normal set of the kerf. This will scuff the wood as it’s cut.

I always use a good carbide blade with a bunch of teeth. it does a nice fine cut. but I think it looks enough like rough sawn lumber when stained that it is close enough and if I do any texturing it is to weather it as with a wire brush with the grain.
Good ideas on making rough cut lumber.
A bit more work was done over the weekend and I am just about out of wood except for a couple of thin stringers that will be used as corner boards on the winch house and lower structure.
I had to rip more lumber from the left over 2x4 and will use it to plank these parts.
Here is a photo of how far along the tipple is prior to running out of wood.

A bit more progress has been made and the winch house is now cladded with planking. The next step is to figure out a chute and then the roof line for the house below.
CHUTE…that’s the word I was looking for. I keep calling them sluices but I knew something was wrong.

Yeah like in “chute” I"m running out of time to finish this build!
Speaking of chutes… the one on my project was giving me a chute fit! I’m still trying to decide whether to make this a working tipple as in dump stuff in the top, lower the chute and watch it spill out. I think I will at least hinge the chute so it goes up and down and yesterday I made some progress in that department.
The winch house is now planked and I have started on the lower. What will bring this build together is paint/ stain/ ink and all that takes time ! Chute!

Todd I think you’d have to redo the slope inside your bin to make it function, unless you are mining ore balls . I was going to ask you earlier how much you paid the 2 shovels, stationed inside the bin, to keep the ore flowing…?
All the bins I’ve seen are closer to 45degrees. Too much friction for much less.
