Mik's Challenge 2015 - Lou Luczu

Well, it came to me while I was in the room where I do my best thinking.
I have wanted to see how small of a caboose I could make. Maybe 10 feet. Not just an outhouse on wheels, but a multi-functional caboose. So I grabbed the closest dirty napkin, and then the ink ran!

The words you can’t read are ladder, folding seat, folding desk, and I think combination seat and Portapotty.
I’m off and running

Than we expect to hear the flush and the tinkle

Watching… waiting… Woah, 3 weeks have gone by! You OK, Lou?

I am sorry if anyone other than myself is disappointed in my progress, but life got in the way.

First, my Dad at 95 got so bad he couldn’t take care of himself. Then 2 weeks ago he passed away. I mentioned it somewhere on another post and got many condolences for which I am very grateful. So I have not felt much like doing any hobby work at all. Now I am into lawyers and paperwork.

In a little bit watch for my new topic under “Prototypes”. I will tell the tale of my weekly trips to the Wilmington & Western Railroad for “Railroad 101” classes every Thursday night. A 2 hour drive that has kept me moving forward.

Lou

I have finally gotten back into the buildin’ mode. Let me say up front this turned out NOTHING like I imagined.

So here is the basic frame. I cut down the side pieces (truck frame) from a Bobber Caboose.

Then I cut up both the length and width:

Glued it all together and tried to cover the imperfections:

Laid out the interior. Hmmm not much privacy for the privy.

Here you can see the shortened frame, and steps on one end only:

All together and painted and lettered.

"Wait, Al, you ever get the feelin’ we’re bein’ watched?

Ah, he’s jest admiring the new paint job!

So this was supposed to be the world’s smallest caboose, but it didn’t turn out that way. At least I got it done before the next contest!

Come take a look, it will be at the 2015 Drag & Brag!

Glad to see it done

Nice job Lou, Can’t wait to see it at the D&B!
