Mik's Build Challenge 2016

I am sure Dave will soon open a Mik’s 2017 thread but since he hinted at the build I will jump in with a preview of prizes.

Since I have been working on people (no surprise) I will once again be donating three figures. The categories will be as before: Randomly drawn from everyone who participates in building a project, randomly drawn for everyone who votes on the winners and that special category of person who makes the LSC world turn.

Figure one will be a new version of “Mik” in 1/22.5.

Figure two will be Ken Brunt (without the hand gesture) in 1/20.3.

Figure three will be a new version of BD in 1/20.3

I thought about doing Rooster this year but I am not sure if anyone is ready for him to come live at their home full time.

Pictures coming soon!!!

30 Days To Go

And the countdown starts
 + we get Christmas too!

Been working and I have gotten 20 kits assembled, and ready to send out.

You'r going to build some great stuff this year for

Mik's Build Challenge 2017.

Stand by for Jan 1st.

Oh I am just giddy about this years challenge.

I hope I can use my left over tin…

I don’t miss the irrelevant clues …

A month to address the undone.

What fun. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. It’s too sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon.

Woo hoo! looking forward to it!

I am hoping to take part this coming year. I have been accepted into the Master Gardener program at UC Riverside and am back in school! You can go to school at any age.

I am hoping to learn what plans will survive in the desert for the railroad!

Congrats on going back to school!

I’m not sure about your high desert, but in Tucson we got:

Write and tell Dave the scale you want …

John

Hmmmm I debating if I should give the challenge a try. Not sure I have time with other projects i need to do.

Ah Shawn. We will just have to make time. It is just too much fun to pass up!

John, I am enjoying the atucson music!

Shawn… You’r in… You’ll like this years Challenge… Trust Me…

And I’m not an politician!

Trust me? A comment like that usually has me grabbing ahold of my wallet, and keeping track of what I value.

being an absolute amateur at building things, a world class procrastinator, and having odd working schedule, I am reluctant to enter, but after my first look at a challenge last year, I still may join in the fun, altough I may want to wait to see what the challenge will be before wasting Dave’s time sending me stuff I have no clue how to build with. So sitting on the fence/standing in middle of road, waiting to get run over sounds like a good plan for me … for now

World class huh? Gee I had to settle for being a Professional Crastinator…

We want to encourage all to join us in the fun. Along with crastinators we also have mucho Suggesters, chocked full of plausible sounding solutions …

Give yourself a chance, you might be happily surprised!

John

I think that is what Devon was implying I am, when he crowned me “King Butt Modeler”.

A rustic pink hat rack!

Pete,

The beauty of the challenge is you don’t need to know what it is. The starting point is so vague that the project is whatever you can make it to be. It doesn’t even need to be useful. My first build was just a piece of pure whimsy. The fun is in the participation not in the end product in my opinion. If it turns out useful then all the better. I have set two rules for myself, try to make it fit the indoor layout theme and make some piece of working hardware. And honestly I reall do care if I hit either rule.

Have fun

That comment from Dave is scary!

I was referring to myself.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

For 24 years I worked for the same man. Took a few years and combinations until it shook out with me as the bench jeweler and production man, my friend in lapidary and Ken dabbling in his custom pieces and sales. When a repair would come in I would be asked cold; ‘how will you fix it?’

I quickly learned to give Plausible Sounding Solutions. If I didn’t, the Boss would supply his plausible sounding complications! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)By the time the new order was rotated in, the correct way would have ‘popped’ into my mind and been entered into my notes. While I had complete freedom to change my mind, I had to explain why I was changing his!
