Mik's 2014 build challenge:Bupp steam repair, Loyet Lumber Co.

Well the shop crews fell asleep again so getting a slightly later start. I have found two structures I kinda like so I am going to try to make one of the two. Here is a link to an O scale model that mine will be loosely based on: http://www.sierrawestscalemodels.com/oscale/301/301.shtml Unfortunately due to computer problems cant post photos yet, hope to get it fixed shortly. Now to dig out the saw and start cutting! Happy Modeling Everybody

Good luck Aaron ,hope you get the pc fixed soon.

but … but … but It’s got no Door!

Just as well you didn’t post the pics, he had No Use without Permission on 'em.

oh well, maybe I can win the Ugly Duckling class…

Have not fear, their will be a door. The main structure will be a blacksmith shop, that was later added on to it, there will be a side door on the original structure

I can see why that building would inspire a fellow, Aaron. Good luck with the LS version. I look forward to watching your build progress!

That’ll be a cool building! I want to make something like it for my saw mill someday.

Terry

Got things working again, so now for a couple photos. Today a load of timbers came in to the Silver Creek Yards

And after a few hours of work, the basic frame is taking shape. I had to shrink the structure to fit into the guidelines. In 1:20 it scales out to 32’ x 38’ with the lean to added on

stay tuned…

Very nice. Those 1:20.3 models are huge!!

Doc Tom

That they are Tom, I scaled it down considerably but it still takes over my bench lol. Got a little more done today. decided to finish the trusses and start the roof, using the trusty craft sticks. I also built the trusses on the lean to as well.

Parked last years challenge car in there. As can be seen it will be pretty tight to work on cars, but will probably be used most to repair and redeck log cars and disconnects.

As the sun sets on another day, the car shop portion got the floor installed. Once again using the trusty craft sticks

So, up till now the crew has been working on this structure without plans, but they keep getting confused, when they tried to start building a wall across the front instead of a door I decided we better fix this lol So here is the unofficial official floor plan, would be better but all this crew of rednecks could come up with to write on was an old napkin lol

will be a bit tight working in this shop, about like working in mine right now

You don’t need no stinkin plans Aaron just grandma’s cookies (for fuel)! Which you still owe us cause you showed them in one of your builds a while back! Were they ginger or molasses cookies?

I could go for some of those right now. Those were really good gooey buttercake cookies

That napkin plan is classy, kind of like our famous store-bought door. Your shed is coming along nicely, Aaron. The tankcar and the tractor both look very good in there.
