Mik Streamliner, a fitting "end"

Now that the Mik is over I can move forward with creating a proper Streamlined “end” for
the train by grafting on an Aristo observation car shell I found on ebay. I didn’t include with the challenge because it cost was over the Mik budget limit. I cut out the rear door to narrow it down so I need to add about 0.080 styrene in-between the shells to widen it out to match the Buddy L passenger car. I’m thinking something Flash Gordony.

I’ve got one of those (somewhere) that I was going to “graft” onto a coach, but the wheel openings didn’t align or such. I figured that if I get a second, I would make an “eggliner” to go behind the streamliners.

This is where you just go Amtrak and cut off the bottom skirt.

That is a neat idea to make an observation end for your streamlined train but i wonder if you should use that eggliner end or make your own that will fit better? It would bug me that the windows don’t line up. You did such a fine job on the loco, I bet you could bend something to make it work.

I went with a drumhead instead.

I made this end for my scratched passenger train. I bent a piece of plexi. It’s not too bad from a distance

Vic;

As an aside, I have a pair of Duluth Trading Company fire hose fabric slacks. Duluth catalogs advertise the fabric can withstand an angry beaver!

Perhaps your train could make a trip to Duluth, MN?

Best, David Meashey

Now that it is painted and the tail fin added, for stability in the curves? It looks great.

HA!!!

…1,2,3,5,7,9 for 20 character limit.

Ya’ should put some chrome or aluminum EOT lights …(with ditch and HEP cables)

i expected you to do it more like this:

Korm, yeah if it bugs me over time I might change it but to resize it to fit like that would require cutting out a horizontal band about 1/4", likely that band just above the windows. So far I’m fine with it, but I’ll keep it in mind as a rainy day project.

Yep, it never rains …it deluges! 21" since October this winter :cloud_with_rain: :scream:

I love the look, Vic. Maybe I missed it, but if not can you post a shot of the whole train?

The “tail” looks great, almost begs for a dorsal fin on each car!

Honestly, I wasn’t even looking at it that way Korm. I was thinking instead of cutting I would just raise the obs end up and align the windows and rails as close as possible. Then fill the gap with a front glass of the roof gap on the obs end.
This way he can charge more for the very tail end seats that look upward at all the scenery of the layout! Perhaps we can convince him to put a camera in the removable dome obs end and run it around his layout.
